CLOVIS, NM (May 15, 2026) – The Hillcrest Park Zoo is deeply saddened to share that Sooner, our beloved Bengal tiger, was humanely euthanized on the afternoon of May 14th, 2026. Following a recent physical exam, it was discovered that he was experiencing chronic kidney failure, and the difficult decision was made to let him go peacefully to preserve his quality of life. Sooner was nearly 16 years old, born on May 28th, 2011, and was truly a remarkable part of the Hillcrest Park Zoo family....
