Hillcrest Park Zoo Announces Birth of Giraffe Calf

CLOVIS, NM (July 14, 2026) – The Hillcrest Park Zoo and the City of Clovis are excited to announce the birth of a giraffe calf to first-time mom Jerrica, the beloved Rothschild giraffe who has been at the Hillcrest Park Zoo since her birth in January 2012.

The male calf was born in the early morning hours of July 9, 2026 and both mother and calf are doing well. The calf will make his debut on Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and the public is encouraged to come to the Zoo to help welcome the new addition.

Due to being a male, eventually the calf will move from Hillcrest Park Zoo to another facility or Zoo.

Hillcrest Park Zoo will be turning to the public to help name the new calf so stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information.
